Hofner Neck

Beginning with the old neck which is used as a template the rough shape is formed by laminating maple blocks together to create a piece large enough to carve the neck from.

Shaping is begun, headstock is given its slant and the outline is drawn. A slot is carved and truss rod placed. Strip of maple is glued in to cover truss rod. It is compared to original.

Carving is completed and attention is turned to ebony fret board. Slots are cut for frets, dots are inlayed and fretboard is attached to neck, frets added.

Lastly new neck is finished and is shown beside the neck it is replacing.
